HOW TO: GIFT WRAP – CHRISTMAS EDITION
Wow, does anybody else other than the TMS team get BEYOND excited for gift-wrapping? We know that it’s what is on the inside that counts at the end of the day, but a little effort in the presentation of a gift never hurt anybody. If anything, it makes the recipient super excited and thankful that you’ve gone to so much thought and effort that the gift-wrapping becomes a gift in itself. This blog post we hope to offer you some ideas on what you can do to make the gift-wrapping look put together and top-notch. So Monday Mavens, scroll away!
1. Glitzy & Glam
If your Christmas theme is “all that glints and sparkles”, then this gift-wrapping must be eye candy for you. Metallic, glitter, and reflective textures where light bounces and dances off! Our tip is to introduce these aspects in small, layered doses. We love the idea of reusing and recycling old Christmas ornaments and decorations to add a little more of a festive touch and it’s easy to nail the glitzy element when most Christmas ornaments and decorations are already sparkly!
2. Ye’ old traditional
To nail this vibe, the red, green and white colour combo needs to steal the show. Feature the colours through the wrapping paper or alternatively, there’s a more subtle and adorable way to do it as shown in this picture. Using ribbon with graphics or velvety textures adds some sophistication and luxe to the overall look. Also, candy canes are more than a treat; they’re a festive token!
3. Au natural
You know what this wrapping is? Wholesome. Using plain wrapping paper offers a great contrast with the pops of colour the natural elements provide. If you feel like being more environmentally conscious with your gift-wrapping, opt to buy or make real dried orange slices and make little cuttings from existing flora and use them as your feature point. Majority of the time, it’ll smell amazing, and is biodegradable. What a win-win.
4. It’s all in the packaging
When you have a gazillion things to wrap, or creative wrapping skills is not your area of expertise, sometimes you just need to buy all the bits and bobs and wrapping paper that do all the work for you and the only part of DIY involved is physically wrapping the present. It’s a great way at this time of the year to support small businesses that do printing and paper designs. Why not show them a little love? Knock, knock, Etsy?
5. Let’s get whimsical
We love a little whimsicality when it comes to wrapping! How original to create woodland creatures out of ordinary brown wrapping paper. All you would need for materials is brown wrapping paper, red ribbon, white, red and brown paper and a black marker. We don’t know about you but we think we’d want to grab ten photos of these parcels before opening them! So photo worthy.
It’s the week before Christmas and if you’re one of those people who have all their gift shopping done and dusted, kudos to you! With the little bit of extra time you have, we hope that these gift-wrapping ideas have offered you some inspiration to take your gifting skills to the next level!
T-11 days till Christmas… We still have one more blog post coming next Monday. Stay tuned!
