5 STEPS TO BECOME A MONDAY MAVEN
"What, is it Monday already?" At The Monday Studio, we are all too familiar with how Mondays can thrust us quite unwillingly into starting the week. So like a welcome cup of coffee on a Monday morning, we serve you with a five-step list that is bound to put a little more spring in your step.
1. Rest & Recovery
We know... rest & recovery? What is that? We are sure that the notion of a little self-directed TLC is a foreign concept for most of you. Whilst the idea of consistent eight-hour blocks of sleep feels like a reference to your favourite past time, prioritising rest & recovery is SO important.
Rest & recovery comes in many forms. It could mean having a decent sleep, 10 minutes of meditation, a session at the gym or studio, walking the dog, experimenting with your creativity, applying your skincare, or even brewing a cup of tea to sit down and read our blog for five minutes (shameless plug...) Look after yourself first, and you will be prepared to take on anything!
2. Living in the moment
Many a times we find ourselves drifting off into the 'what if' of the future that we forget about the impermanence of the precious present moments. Acknowledging and acceptance that everything in life has a time limit allows you to focus on the 'now' and will lead to a more fulfilling life when you know you have spent your energy productively and your time wisely.
Living in the moment is really difficult in today's digital age as we have so much to consume and so much to distract us. Let us get into the habit of taking our eyes off a screen when it's not needed, so that we don't miss life happening in front of us.
3. 'Me' time
As humans we have a finite amount of ourselves to throw into living life and we have to care and love ourselves first in order to be able to share our amazing selves with others. The beauty about age is growing confidence in knowing who you are and what is desirable to you. When taking 'me' time, do something that brings you genuine happiness, When you feed your soul with happiness, it radiates and manifests physically. Take care of yourself and treat yourself. When you feel good, you can't help but be good.
4. Organisation & scheduling
Whether you're time poor, have a million and one things to do or just get really overwhelmed with meeting deadlines, your life can be made easier by making the effort to compartmentalise aspects of your life and then prioritising them on a day to day basis. To become an expert at this, you need to be reasonable with yourself and manage your expectations knowing what you can and can't achieve in the time period that you're given. We may have the same hours as Beyoncé, but we can't all be Beyoncé. With that said, we suggest working smart and not hard... make use of the 21st century tech and if there's anything you can easily do or delegate online, why not?
5. Make Monday fun!
Once upon a time Mondays weren't perceived as boring. In fact, the Babylonians create the names for the days of the week. Sunday was named after the sun, and Monday was named after the moon - and there is something so celestial and mysterious about the moon isn't there?
At The Monday Studio, we like to think of Mondays as opportunities for new beginnings and endless possibilities. We also see it as a wonderful opportunity to set the right, positive tone for the week ahead. And who said one can't schedule something enjoyable for Monday? You could have an after work dinner with friends... A scheduled call with a loved one in the evening... Movie night Mondays anyone?
Embrace these five steps, and you're on your way to becoming a Monday Maven - basically the closest you can get to being Beyoncé with a 24 hour day.
